Top (outlet) of the 6-foot tall carbon filter. This is the real gem of the system, based on an idea from Lee Harper. In goes plain tap water, out comes clear water, with NO CHLORINE OR CHLORAMINE! No chemicals are added. Since it hasn't been through RO/DI, I dont need to re-add the electrolytes and buffers. I do not know why it removes chloramine, everything I had read before made me believe carbon would not remove it. But this mother-of-all-filters gives me zero readings. That is a 2-inch diameter pipe filled with "Norit PK 1-3" activated carbon. There is foam inside the plug ends to stop the carbon escaping.
