A similar front decoration. If you look carefully you can see that there is another layer behind it. This is the hexagon box pleat shown in the next picture.

This strip has a front decoration which is also functional. It is a folded over box-pleated hexagon: one half sits on the outside of the lid and the other on the inside. You can see the front half of it in this picture.

Here is the inside half of the hexagon. The tips of the back flaps are inserted into the pockets. This neatens the back flaps which can look scruffy if the folding is not extremely precise. The strip can be continued until it tucks under the floor of the box.

This box shows the tip of the hexagon catch when it is tucked into the torsion belt. In this case, the outer strip finishes on the underside of the box.

Inserted strip with another design at the front. The front decoration tucks into the back decoration. Unfortunately it is rather weak and will not stand up to repeated openings and closings.

Another attempt to create a self locking strip. It, too, is rather weak.

A side on view. ..... I have yet to solve the problem of how to make a strong lock. Fortunatley the torsion belt and the tensioned tabs inside the box work fine.
